UVA Computer Science Industrial Affiliates Program
The main goal of the Industrial Affiliates Program is to facilitate an active
interaction among business, industry, government, and academia in computer
research, development, and education. We believe the sharing of technical
information and resources is beneficial to our mutual development in
computer science and engineering. the Affiliates program was developed to
provide a mechanism for organizations to collaborate with the Department.
The program offers many benefits to business and industry. Affiliate members
are able to interact with faculty on research topics of mutual interest, to keep
abreast of current research results through meetings with the faculty and
technical publications, and early access to our high-quality student base.
There is also an opportunity to influence computing research and education and
to participate in long-range technical assessments of problems and directions in
the field.
There are also many benefits to the Department. Through the interaction,
we can learn
about current problems in industry. Students have an opportunity to learn
about, and participate in summer internships. Students will also learn about
careers in industry and business and have an opportunity to purse them.
Membership in the Industrial Affiliates Program requires a qualifying
contribution to the department. There is a three tier membership hierarchy,
based on the benefits.
