BibTeX is program the works with LaTeX to help automate producing bibliographies. It is described in the two LaTeX books mentioned above, and also in btxdoc.tex (postscript version).

Usage

Type "bibtex file" to run BibTeX on file.tex. Note: you must run LaTeX on a file before running BibTeX on it, since BibTeX uses one of the LaTeX output files (file.aux) to figure out what was cited in the document. You then need to run LaTeX on the file again (possibly twice more) to resolve cross references.
