What is it?

VRML is a file format that brings 3D to the World Wide Web. VRML is in its second incarnation. The first standard, VRML 1.0 defined a static 3D world. VRML 2.0, also known as Moving Worlds, gives the user a dynamic 3D world through the use of scripts and sensors.

What Do These Features Give You?

The combination of sensors and scripts is what makes VRML 2.0. Sensors activate scripts when they detect a certain event. Below is a list of some of things you might see implemented with sensors and scripts:

How Do I Look At It?

At the present, there are only two viewers available for VRML 2.0.

SGI's browser is known as Cosmo Player. Cosmo Player is available as a Netscape plugin for Win95, Windows NT, and SGI machines.

Follow this link to download Cosmo Player.

Several viewers are available for VRML 1.0. For example, Netscape Navigator typically comes with the Live3D plugin.
