Introduction

Xfig is an XWindows facility for generating figures. It isn't a high powered drawing tool, but it is useful for making not-too-complicated figures and diagrams. The best way to learn xfig is to use it, everything is pretty self-explanatory.

If you want to be able to reload figures with xfig, you need to save them in xfig's native format, with a .fig extension.

Including Figures in Documents

Xfig can generate encapsulated postscript suitable for inclusion by most document processors such as Frame. If you're using LaTeX, then use the combined PS/LaTeX option (you need to export both) and include the latex part with the line: \input{file.pstex_t}.
