ntroduce yourself to the
CS Faculty members; learn
who they are and what their
research areas are. Pick out the ones that do research in
your area of interest.
About three quarters of the way through your first semester, you will be asked to choose professors that you think you want to work with; likewise, the professors will pick students they would like. So, keep this in mind as you interact with the Faculty. Other good things to do are attend any talks given by a Faculty member, attend a few research group meetings, read any of their published documents, and talk with the "older" graduate students; see who you are comfortable with. Remember: "A good advisor will serve as a mentor as well as a source of technical assistance." (quote from Marie desJardins' How to Be a Good Graduate Student)
