Welcome to the mailing list for the Distrbiuted Systems Reading Group. The focus for this group is on anything loosely related to distributed systems (incl. Grid, Web, etc. computing). We have the Ols 228E conference room on Thursdays, beginning next week (Oct 4) from 2-4pm. The format of the reading group will be relatively relaxed. The goal is to have volunteers for two presentations per session, 20-45 min each. Like Theory Lunch, our agenda is to have presenters discuss an interesting paper, a paper they're working on, a paper they have published, their current work and/or problems they want to solve. Faculty are more than welcome to strong-arm their students into presenting material that they feel would benefit the community (e.g., papers older than the students presenting them). However, we would like to have at least one presentation on topical material. For paper presentations, we highly recommend those attending to read/skim/etc. the selected papers because it facilitates discussion. (However, like Theory Lunch, you won't be turned away at the door if you haven't.) I'm in the process of establishing a Wiki for the reading group to host the schedule and serve as an interface for volunteering, posting paper suggestions, etc. More info on that to come soon. Subscribing to Distributedgroup

This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext. If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription.
