CS Department Recognizes Outstanding Achievements

he Computer Science Department of the University of Virginia is
pleased to announce the recognition of several of its outstanding
students. James
Patten and Sarah Schwarm received "Honorable Mention" in the Computer
Research Association Outstanding Undergraduate Competition. We
had two teams compete in the "1998 Association for Computing Machinery
Mid-Atlantic Regional Programming Contest." Team One, Richard Eppink,
Jeff King, and Patrick
Reynolds, took second place out of 139 teams. The second team, Scott
Gorman, T. J. Highley, and Chris Rude, finished in
sixth place. Team One will advance to the world-wide contest, "ACM
International Collegiate Programming Contest," which will be held in
Eindhoven, The Netherlands, in April 1999.
