Specifically, the Alpha die photo came from --- "M. Matson, D. Bailey, S. Bell, L. Biro, S. Butler, J. Clouser, J. Farrell, M. Gowan, D. Priore, and K. Wilcox, "Circuit Implementation of a 600MHz Superscalar RISC Microprocessor", International Conference on Computer Design, October 1998." As for SPARC or ARM, I am not sure where to obtain the floorplan from. But Berkeley CPU info center might be a place to look. Here is the URL: http://bwrc.eecs.berkeley.edu/CIC/die_photos/ It does have the die photo of UltraSPARC but it doesn't show the floorplan. The site also has floorplans of other processors (eg: MIPS R10K, Pentium etc.) which might be of use to you. Further, Googling for "Processor Die Photos" or "CPU Die Photos" gave some more floorplans. Here is a listing: AMD Processor Images: http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/SellAMDProducts/0,,30_177_6486_5718,00.html Intel: http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/19990810/images/p3-die.jpg ftp://download.intel.com/pressroom/images/processors/presc_die_2000px.tif ftp://download.intel.com/pressroom/images/processors/p3p-m_die_13micron.tif ftp://download.intel.com/pressroom/images/processors/p3p-m_die_layout.tif To answer your second question about the power numbers, we modify Wattch to model an Alpha-like architecture (i.e., split Int/FP queues, physical register file instead of RUU etc.) and calibrate the numbers using those from personal communication with Alpha EV7 architect Pete Bannon. Hope this helps. Let us know if you have more questions. -karthik > --On Wednesday, September 15, 2004 12:11 AM -0400 > yongkui@acad.umass.edu wrote: > > > do you have the processor floorplan for other > > microprocessors, such as SPARC, ARM, etc.? and how did > > you draw the floorplan for Alpha? > > > > and how do you get the power numbers for those functional > > units in your floorplan?
