As a special activity on Wednesday evening, there will be a panel session on computer architecture and compilers. The rapid pace of innovation in silicon technology presents new challenges and opportunities to the PLDI community. Similarly, advances in programming language design and implementation techniques can play a role in the design of new processors. The purpose of this panel session is to open a dialog between computer architects and the PLDI community. PLDI '98 is fortunate to have four leading computer architects share their insights and to participate in a discussion with the PLDI community.
