Demonstration Scenario for VigilNet
Approximately 1000 motes placed relatively uniformly over 100x1000m grass and scrub brush area encompassing a dirt road. The network will be roughly divided into 10 sections with roughly 100 motes each. In each section, a relay is in charge of commanding sensor operation and retrieving information about environmental events.
Snapshots of the field test with 200 XSM motes are available.
In this demonstration scenario, there are two types of network sections.
- The first type is called a tripwire section, in which sentry-based surveillance is provided. We expect 30 to 40% of the motes in these areas to be sentries and they will provide timely detection.
- The second type of section is called a dormant section, in which no surveillance is provided. For the dormant sections, all nodes are in the dormant state, until there is a wake-up call from any tripwire section.
