The group is currently building and releasing the second version of SimEx, a tool used to aid practitioners (the simulationist and the Subject Matter Expert) to coerce a simulation. SimEx includes visualization, optimization and constraint specification modules.
The following components of SimEx 2.0 are ready for download:
Click here (Quicktime movie) for a short video of SimEx 1.0 in use. As the low resolution hockey puck simulation runs, we can track the internal variables using the visualization tools. For instance, in this case the x and y positions and speed of the hockey puck along with the accumulated values of the x and y positions are displayed. Using the graphing component of the visualization module we graph the hockey puck's trajectory. The practitioner can select an objective function, define constraints and pick an optimization technique to run on these internal variables. This functionality is not shown in the video, but is captured in these screen shots.
