Course was very challenging but I learned a lot. Programming experience is definitely a bonus coming in to it, but not required. The labs were sometimes not clear and very long winded. I think I wrote more for this class then my STS class, but it helped me understand why and how things worked. Best professor I have had, very clear and to the point in lecture. Looking forward to having another class taught by Prof Bloomfield!

I would make the Huffman lab less comprehensive somehow because I ended up just giving up due to a lack of time - meant I didn't really learn anything. An easier lab would have actually made me learn more.

This class was challenging but I don't think that it was an unreasonable amount of work. While some labs took a frustrating amount of time, I did learn a lot and feel that this class was worthwhile.

Bloomfield is awesome. He is a great professor and I hope I have to opportunity to take a course taught by him again before I graduate. He listens to his students (even when it is all complaints) and he takes them seriously. He is approachable and incredibly knowledgeable.

This is the best CS class!

Examples always help.

While this was an interesting class, the amount of work required for this class does not match the amount of credit received. This class meets for 5 hours a week, 3 lectures and a 2 hour lab. Each week there is a lab assignment that consists of a pre-lab, in-lab, and post-lab that each take several hours to complete. The total time spent outside of class on each lab can easily be 15+ hours. This is not the only class that students have, and its simply too much work to be a 3 credit class. It should easily be a 4 credit class.

Aaron S. Bloomfield is also a BAMF. This class was hard, but I got out of it in proportion to the work I put in.

Some of the postlab write ups ended up taking very long and I didn't think were too helpful, but the coding always made me feel as though I was learning the subject matter well.
