Chaos: Making a New Science

James Gleick

I've always heard the term Chaos and dismissed it as another theory. This book was a good book to understand the fundamentals of Chaos Theory, and why it is not just another theory, but a fundamental paradigm shift.

He gives a heroic quality to the endeavour of all those scientists and mathematicians who risked their reputations to propound this theory, and I kind of liked that. That aside, he is a good writer, and goes over the numerous origins of this field, from ecology to fluid dynamics to economics. The book is well-researched and entertaining. Recommended.
