Who I Am

My name is Chris Sosa and I am a second year graduate student at the University of Virginia. My research interests include distributed systems, operating systems, security and information retreival. Currently, I am working in distributed systems. Specifically, I am working in the fields of Grid/Cloud Computing.

At the University of Virginia, I work under the tutelage of Andrew Grimshaw . I am a member of the Virginia Center for Grid Research (VCGR) working on the Genesis II project. Genesis II is a standards-based, open-source Grid computing platform.

Who I Was

I graduated from Cornell University in 2005 with a BA in Computer Science, Economics, and Mathematics. In 2006, I graduated from Cornell with a M.Eng in Computer Science. While at Cornell, I was a member of the Web Laboratory that was led by my research advisor William Arms .

I have had the fortunate experiences to work at a few companies in my younger ages. Living so close to the nation's capital, it comes to no surprise that I ended up working for some military contractors. This includes working at Raytheon Co. as a Research Assistant.

Prior to Raytheon, I had an internship at Ensco Inc. for three years. This was a great experience and I learned a lot. Fortunately for me, the location was prime as it was right under the corner from my parent's house in Northern Virginia.

g-icing

G-ICING is an installable file system for Windows XP that I am currently developing for the Genesis II Grid platform here at Uva. You can find the latest version of g-icing here. You can also find the current documentation for G-ICING on the VCGR wiki here.
