Professional

As of December 2012 I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, & Parasitology at LSU Health Sciences Center, New Orleans.

Research

My initial research involved lighting models for computer graphics which led to graduation with honors on May 13, 2000 from Mary Washington College. In August 2000, I entered graduate school at the University of Virginia and earned a Master of Science degree on August 15, 2002 with a thesis based on the application of concepts from discrete mathematics and topology to the field of data mining. This work, with Professor John Pfaltz, led to a patent and two refereed publications. I then taught two undergraduate courses in discrete mathematics at UVa during the 2002-2003 academic year. In January 2004, I began cross-disciplinary work on human DNA replication timing which is the topic of my dissertation completed on May 18, 2008. This work, performed in collaboration with Professor Gabriel Robins and Professor Anindya Dutta, has led to three journal publications so far, with another upcoming. More details can be found in my CV and on the Dutta Lab homepage. Here is a recent press release describing our collaboration and results published in Nature.
