CS 1112 Staff

- I’m a second year at the College and a math + bio major (probably). I am also an international student from Shenzhen, China. I took 1112 this past fall with Prof. Cohoon, and I’m currently trying out research projects in bioinformatics (CS + bio + stat). Fun fact: I have difficult times finding usable photos of myself on my lap top because it’s stuffed with tens of GB's of pictures of cats... from my high school. (so just take one of these instead).
CS courses I’ve taken: CS 1112 — and that’s pretty much it :))

- I'm a second year in the engineering school studying computer science, and have a minor in the Technology Leaders Program (TLP) and Design Integration. I found my passion for CS in high school taking an AP CS Class and I'm excited to TA for 1112! Some fun facts about me are that I am in Chi Alpha here at UVA, I am a professional makeup artist, certified scuba diver, and competed the in Miss Virginia Pageant in 2016.
- Feel free to ask me about any CS courses, the TLP minor, E-school, XA, or anything, really!

- I am a fourth year computer science major in the school of engineering and I am pursuing a minor in engineering business. I took CS 1112 my first semester at university, loved it and I am now the head TA. I have had two internships, one in development at Dataguise and one in sales engineering at IBM. I will be starting a role at IBM as a technical solution specialist (fancy term for sales nerd) in October. Fun fact: I have a vocal range that allows me to sing what would traditionally be a male vocal part.
- Feel free to ask me about any part of CS Engineering curriculum as I have finished all my requirements and hope to graduate in the spring! :)

- Hey, I'm an econ major/CS minor! I took 1112 as a sophomore looking to learn basic coding skills and really enjoyed it so I kept taking CS classes. Feel free to ask me about any econ classes, or CS classes up to 2150. I also applied to the Batten School's Accelerated Master's of Public Policy! An interesting fact about myself is that I once found $120 under a rock!

- I am a second year currently undeclared but planning on majoring in computer science and math through the college. Prior to taking my first CS class last semester I was intending to do a history major because I’m a huge history nerd. I’m from Kansas City which you’ll probably figure out in the first 5 minutes of talking to me because I’ve got a lot of KC pride. Also I’m a huge sports fan (Go Chiefs!), and I hope I can eventually combine my passions for sports and CS. This is my first semester as a TA and I’m really looking forward to working with all of you. 1112 was my favorite class last semester and I hope you enjoy it too. Fun fact about me, I love the outdoors and spent a week this summer driving through Colorado and Southern Utah and camping everywhere along the way.

- I am a Second Year student at UVA majoring in Biology and minoring in Computer Science. I’ve never thought I would be taking CS classes ever because I thought it was way beyond my comprehension. However, after taking CS 1112, I found out that I absolutely love coding and am good at it as I am a natural problem solver. As much as I love CS, I love Biology just a bit more and I am planning to go to dental school. Other fun facts about me is that I won fourth place in Virginia State Science Bowl Competition in 2017; I have been a violinist for almost 10 years; I used to practice Shotokan Karate and won second place in 2015 Nationals; and I was born and had lived in Vietnam for 10 years.
- I will be absolutely happy to answer any questions about CS 1112 and CS 2110. I am currently taking CS 2102 and will share my experiences in it too once it starts picking up.

- I spent my first year of college at UNC Chapel Hill pursuing a pre-med track only to find out that I did not want to be a doctor. After transferring and making the decision to switch my major, I felt like it was a good time to try something else out of my comfort zone—coding. CS 1112 gave me a great foundation in Python and showed me that a pursuing something so new was not as intimidating as I believed. Some of my other interests include sustainability, consignment shopping and thrifting, and more recently cooking.
- If you have any questions about CS, transitioning as a transfer, or want to share a recipe, let me know!

- I'm a fourth year here at UVA. I have been a TA for 1112 for two semesters so far, and I love getting to work with students and professor Cohoon. Most people are surprised to find out that I am a Global Public Health major with a minor in Anthropology-I took 1112 as a third year and discovered that I had a knack for coding. A fun fact about me is that I have a ten-year-old sister adopted from Hunan, China.
- Feel free to come to me with any questions about the course, or if you're interested in the overlap of public health and technology!
