This course provides an introduction to software systems, in
general, and to program design and implementation using the Java language,
in particular. This course is intended for non-CS majors who
nevertheless want or will likely need to have a reasonable technical
understanding of what software is and how it's developed.
Textbook: Java Program Design (Cohoon and Davidson) Students are also required to sign up for and use CodeLab. This course uses the JCreator IDE for Java. JCreator LE is available for download free of charge, and can be used on any computer platform that supports Java. JCreator requires you to have the Java SDK (Software Development Kit) on your PC. If you don't have the SDK, or if JCreator gives you an error , you can download the latest SDK (J2SE) for free from http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp (you don't need the bundle with NetBeans). |
