Microsoft has set up the DreamSpark program so that CS students can get copies of software for use in their classes or research. It provides a single licensed copy of software for personal use while at UVa. Note: the single license is for a product family. If there are multiple versions, such as a 32-bit vs. 64-bit, or differing language options, obtaining one will preclude you from obtaining the other.
Software distribution is handled through UVa's DreamSpark WebStore under the DreamSpark Premium tab. Access is controlled by NetBadge and granted through membership in ITS' DreamSpark Premium Active Directory group. That group is maintained by CS System Staff. Graduate students, faculty and staff are added automatically, undergrads may be added by having a faculty member make a request on their behalf to email@example.com.
