In 1996, Chris Helvig graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill , where he was co-author with Dr. Jannick Rolland on two conference papers in the field of Computer Vision. He recently received his M.S. in Computer Science at the Department of Computer Science, at the University of Virginia. There, he co-authored three more conference papers and one journal paper with his advisor Dr. Gabriel Robins in the fields of VLSI CAD and Computational Geometry. He also has one more journal paper pending acceptance, and he will soon submit a third journal paper.

His hobbies and interests include reading science fiction and fantasy, weight lifting and jogging, most martial arts (including fencing and wrestling), playing the piano, studying Russian language and culture, and playing strategy games.
