Extending the Vocabulary for Cross-Disciplinary Searching of EOS Data

The goal of the EVOC project is to provide a prototype electronic search assistant to facilitate cross-disciplinary searching of EOS Data, in order to help users find all data relevant to their queries.

The EOSDIS is a multidisciplinary data store and thus subject to difficulties in cross-disciplinary, primarily due to differences in terminology. The system should, therefore, provide some means for discovering, possibly with user guidance, the intended meaning of a user query.

Our Demos page features a search/browse prototype with a shopping cart and a version of the GCMD interface augmented with a Thesaurus.
