In my spare time, of which there is not much, I enjoy rock climbing at Rocky Top REC or occasionally out in the mountains in western Virginia. I've also picked up snowboarding, windsurfing, sailing, and most recently motorcycling.
In 2007, I married Tamra Lyn Morris in a lovely ceremony at my parents' home in Saint Stephens Church, Virginia. The entire wedding party and many of the guests were attired in traditional fairy tale dress. We honeymooned in Orlando, Florida, and visited Universal's Islands of Adventure.
I was born in the sunny San Diego, California. I then moved to Virginia a few years later, but I love to go back and visit, and still have some family in the area.
Growing up I was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, and spent every summer camping, hiking, and generally enjoying the outdoors. When I moved to Charlottesville to attend the University, I was excited to discover how much there was to do in the local outdoors.
Throughout my childhood, I was homeschooled by my mother. This gave me a strong desire to continue learning, and ultimately led to my decision to attend college, and later on graduate school.
Although I'm no chef, I do enjoy cooking and had several jobs through the years in various restaurants and kitchens. In previous years, several people have suggested I try culinary school, but computer science was just too important. Maybe some day I'll try night classes.
My heritage on both sides of my family traces back to Ireland. I very much hope to visit the country in the near future, and see if I can track down some distant relatives.
