Lego Trivia
In sorting all of my castle pieces together, I have begun to notice
slight differences in pieces over the years. Why should you care?
You shouldn't; but it's fun. Anyway, here are a few - feel free
to mail me others.
- 1x1 cylinder brick. Used to have a solid top with the word
"LEGO". Now open.
- 2x2x2 cone. The hole at top used to be open. Now it is a shallow
depression. This affects the construction of e.g. Aerial Acrobats.
- Saddle. Used to have a clip on one side. Now have clips on
both sides.
- 1x8 plate (and other 1x plates). The bumps on the underside
used to be filled in. Now they are hollow.
- 2x2 brick (and other 2x bricks). The sides on the underside
used to be of uniform thickness. Now they are ridged at the points
where they are intended to nest with other pieces.
- 1x1 plate with horizontal clip. The clip used to be thin and
curve inwards at the end. Now it is thick and projects straight
out. This actually affects its use (particularly in the Supply Wagon)
because a if it used to clip a shield to a wall, the wider clip
interferes.
- 1x1 plate with loop. The loop used to be narrow. It is now as
wide as the brick.
- 1x2 plate with two handles. The handles used to be at the same
level as the plate, now they are slightly lower. You cannot stack a
new plate on top of an old one.
Reviews
I plan to eventually review all my sets (yeah, right!). For now, here
is my review of two of the new
Dark Forest sets, and here is my
review of the third
Dark Forest set.
Inventory
I also plan to inventory all of my sets. That may be a long time
away, but for now, here are my inventories (using my own personal
nomenclature) for:
Please, if you have any corrections or suggested improvements to my
approach towards inventories, don't hesitate to mail me your thoughts.
