Colonial Williamsburg
(Virginia, USA)
September 20-23, 2000
(This page will be updated as more information becomes available.)
Travel
Both the conference center and the Woodlands hotel are adjacent
to the Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center.
By Car:
Colonial Williamsburg is midway between Richmond and Norfolk on I-64
(exit 238). After exiting, look for the green and white signs for the
Visitor Center.
- From the North (Washington DC/Richmond): Take I-95 South to
Richmond. Take left exit off 95 South towards Norfolk and
Williamsburg. Follow signs to I-64 East towards Norfolk and
Williamsburg and take exit 238.
- From Virginia Beach/Norfolk/Newport News: Follow I-64 West to
exit 238.
By Air:
Norfolk, Newport News-Williamsburg, and Richmond International
Airports are all close to Colonial Williamsburg. Each has rental car
and limousine service. The Washington DC airports are about 2.5 hours
from Williamsburg.
-
Groome Transporation (804) 222-7222
offers shuttle service from the Richmond
airport to Williamsburg every hour (we believe it's on the
hour). Estimated prices are $34
one-way, $62 roundtrip. For parties of 2 or more, there is a
discounted rate of $21/person each way. No reservations are
required. Look for 'Ground Transportation' near the baggage claim
area.
- Given the varied schedules (times and airports) of GD
participants, we are unable to organize group transportation
from the Richmond airport. If you are taking the Groome
Transportation shuttle and someone else from GD is
onboard, you should be able to ask for the "party of 2 or
more" discount.
By Bus:
- Greyhound offers bus service
from Richmond (downtown, not from the airport). See their
webpage for schedules and fares.
- Greyhound also offers bus
service from downtown Washington DC, and the Washington Dulles
airport. Travel times are lengthy, but you can check their
webpage for schedules and fares.
By Train:
- Amtrak offers train service
from Union Station in Washington DC, to Williamsburg. Travel time is
just over 3.5. According to current schedules, trains depart from
Washington DC at 7am and 3:20pm, and return from Williamsburg at 11am
and 4:25pm. Please check their web site for more information.
