Mechadyne Incorporated

For centuries, there has been no large scale human war.  Mechadyne Incorporated has risen to become the sole corporation designing and producing all weapons systems for the Military of the Central Government of Earth.   Mechadyne also supplies most other corporations, militia, and colonists with security and law enforcement systems.

Because Mechadyne has no significant competitors and there have been no large scale wars for centuries, the Mechadyne Incorporated combat systems are expensive and unimaginative, and the technology is decades old.   Mechadyne maintains huge profit margins by minimizing research and development while mass producing well tested systems.

Mechadyne is the sole manager of artificially intelligent machines and restricts their deployment to reduce the risk of a competitor gaining the knowledge to develop AI machines.  Such a competitor could rise out of the sea of smaller corporations that Mechadyne regularly crushes and sweeps aside. 

The widespread use of Mechadyne combat systems among corporations and colonies large and small for well over a century means many of these systems find their way into the hands of pirates and organized crime syndicates.  Central Government Laws forbid the sale or operation of large capital ships or terrestrial heavy infantry weapons systems to any entity outside of the Central Government of Earth.  While corporations, colonies, and criminals have access to the same fighter drones and medium sized missile ships for space warfare as well as light infantry systems; the Military of the Central Government of Earth can always defeat any insurgency using larger and more heavily armed combat systems along with superior numbers.

Mechadyne Incorporated and the Central Government of Earth enjoy a very interdependent relationship to the detriment of many others.  Because of this relationship, many corporations within SOPEC have developed methods to free themselves from dependence on Mechadyne Incorporated for their security and law enforcement needs.
