Short Biography

John F. Karpovich is currently a Senior Architect for the Avaki Corporation working on commercial distributed computing and grid software. He is one of the original developers of the Legion software system. He received a B.S. degree in Economics in 1988 from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters of Computer Science from the University of Virginia in 1995. John's recent research interests include exploring how to improve flexibility and interoperability of components in large distributed systems, improving task placement in large heterogeneous distributed systems, and high performance I/O.
