Description:
The amount of butterflies in Big Bend National Park was very surprising, considering it's in the middle of the Chihuahuan Desert. This picture captures a small cluster of butterflies in a dry wash on the Window Trail. These were not the most colorful of the 5 or 6 varieties we saw, but the way they are all huddled together is kind of neat. I'm not sure what was so facinating about the spot, but they seemed to like it because they came back to it even after we accidentally stirred them up.
