Description:
An ocotillo cactus on Dagger Flats ( Big Bend National Park ). There must have been some moisture in the area not long before I visited because this cactus still has plenty of little green leaves. During dry times, all of these leaves fall off and the plant looks like a dead skeleton. But as soon as it rains, it blooms again almost immediately.
