One thing that surprised me at Big Bend National Park was the number of tarantulas we saw. We spotted this little guy just as we were heading off on our hike down to the Window. Needless to say, we were much more careful where stepped after this encounter. It wasn't until after the hike that I found out that they are not poisonous - whew!
