This is what it looks like about a 1000 feet below the rim on the South Kaibab Trail. In the foreground is XXX which is a common destination for short day hikes into the canyon and is also used as a stopping point and hitching post for horse and mule back trips. The real benefit of this stopping point is to gather your strength on the way back up before tackling the steep grade to the rim.
