Halfdome in Yosemite National Park

This is a picture of the infamous Halfdome at Yosemite N.P. taken on a hot and picture perfect day in June 1989. Halfdome is probably the most recognizable peak in Yosemite and has been immortalized in several classic Ansel Adams black and white photos. Halfdome acquired its current broken-in-half look from the destruction brought to the main valley by huge glaciers during the last(?) ice age. These glaciers gouged out the entire valley creating the long wide U-shaped valley that we see today.
