Description:
Nubble lighthouse is one of the most recognizable in the country. The lighthouse is actually on an island which is separted from the mainland by a very narrow rocky channel. At the lowest tides, it looked possible to climb all the way out to the light, though I didn't try it myself. My ex-girlfriend and I stumbled upon it completely by accident on our journey up the Maine coast line in August of '88. It was late dusk under party cloudy skies , which gave the picture an ominous look. I later was surprised to learn that my sister-in-law grew up vacationing very near here and had an entire collection of Nubble Lighthouse pictures and paintings. This ended up fitting right in.
