Karolina Sarnowska PhD Graduate Student
Department of Computer Science
|
I am in my fourth year of graduate school. After completing my Masters last year, I am in the process of preparing my PhD proposal. Currently my research focus is on job execution in heterogenous environments. My general research interests include distributed and grid systems, high performance computing, parallel programming, and bioinformatics. I am a part of the Virginia Center for Grid Research where I am studying under Professor Andrew Grimshaw. As part of my research assistantship, I also work with Tiger Teams formed by the UVa Alliance for Computational Science and Engineering.
I currently serve as our department's Teatime Tsarina. In the past I have also served our department as the Graduate Chair of the ACM-W (2007) and the CS Representative to the Graduate Engineering Student Council (2007/2008).
I graduated from Mississippi State University in 2006 with a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science and Mathematics as well as minors in German and General Business. Along with Mississippi, I grew up in Michigan, Alaska, and Poland.
Outside of academia, I enjoy dancing, sports, and hiking.
