In addition to the technical sessions of contributed paper presentations, the conference will offer invited presentations, tutorials, panels, roundtables and exhibits. The official language is English which will be used for all printed materials, presentations and discussions. The topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
Papers are invited on the topics outlined and other topics consistent with the themes of the conference. To be considered, papers must be in English and not exceed 10 double-spaced pages (approximately 2,000 words) including figures, tables and references. Each paper should include an abstract and a title page, on which the name and mailing address of each author are listed, and should specify the presenting author. The instructions and guidelines for authors are available from WWW at http://www.seri.re.kr/HPC97.html, or via anonymous ftp at seri.re.kr(cd /HPC97/format). Electronic submissons are encouraged; faxed submissions will not be reviewed. Notificaton of acceptance will be by December 20, 1996 and Camera-ready papers are due February 15, 1997.

The tutorial program aims at presenting a spectrum of topics related to the themes of HPC Asia '97. Tutorials may be proposed for either a full day or a half day. Each proposal should be submitted including the following items: an abstract (100 words or less), a brief description of the tutorial material and intended audience, a lecture outline/schedule, level of presentation (beginner, intermediate or advanced), samples of visual materials to be used, and a vita with three references who are familiar with the proposer's lecturing ability. Submissions missing any of the required components will be returned without review. Notification of acceptance will be by December 20, 1996. Electronic or camera-ready copy of all presentation materials will be due February 15, 1997.

Roundtables are informal, interactive discussions among members of the audience and the organizer. The roundtable organizer is responsible for setting the theme and encouraging participation through selected short presentations. Those interested in organizing a roundtable session should submit proposals that include a description of the subject area, a description of the targeted audience, goals for the session, and the organizer's contributions to the field. Proposers will be notified of accepatance by December 20, 1996.

A panel session provides an opportunity for a group of speakers to discuss different viewpoints on subjects of interest. The topic and panel discussion are expected to stimulate and provoke further discussion by the audience. A moderator selects several panelists, each of whom presents a short statement outlining her or his position. This is followed by interaction between panelists and the audience. Proposals must include an abstract of 150 words or less, a brief statement of the topic and intent of the panel, short biographies of the moderator and the suggested panelists, and outlines of the diversity of viewpoints likely to be expressed by the panel members. Submit a proposal not to exceed three double-spaced pages. Proposers will be notified of acceptance by December 20, 1996.

Authors preferring an informal, interactive presentation of results and experiences may submit proposals for a visual presentation. Researchers may use the traditional paper poster format or provide the interactive multimedia presentations via video/VCR or standalone computers. Proposals must include an abstract of 100 words or less which describes the content of the poster, the mode of presentation (standard or video), and any equipment requirements. Submitters of accepted posters will be notified by December 20, 1996.

Research exhibits provide an opportunity to demonstrate results of research programs. Space is provided for equipment, and network links are available so that research results can be presented in the form of executing programs. During normal exhibition hours, research exhibitors should be available to demonstrate and discuss their research with conference attendees. Proposals must include an abstract (100 words or less), a brief description of the exhibit, delineating the purpose of the exhibit, computing equipment to be used, required network connection, and a statement of justification if you need help with shipping costs. Notification of acceptance will be by December 20, 1996.

The industry exhibit associated with HPC Asia '97 is the premier exhibition in high performance computing and communications in the region. Featuring the latest products and developments, the industry exhibit showcases supercomputers, workstations, softwares and applications, storage systems, and network products etc. Those companies exhibiting at HPC Asia '97 can present current activities in exhibitor presentations. Presentations are non-commercial in nature and 30 minutes in length. Prposals must include an abstract of 100 words or less and any equipment requirments.
