Quick Biography
Kimberly Wasson is a research scientist in the Department of Computer Science at the University
of Virginia. She holds a Doctorate in Computer Science and a Master's Degree in Slavic
Linguistics, both from
UVa, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Russian from Syracuse University.
Her primary research activity is in software engineering, in the areas of
reliability and dependability generally, and particularly in the application
of rigorous linguistics to the problem of requirements validity.
Additionally, she conducts work in software forensics, investigating the
contribution of human cognitive habits and limits to system failures as well
as the influence of these habits and limits on how we investigate failure.
She also follows developments in cognitive science, computational biology,
and the theory of computation. Kimberly is an author of a number of
conference papers, has given several invited talks, and has taught or
co-taught courses in Computer Science, Linguistics, and Russian. She enjoys
running, reading, quilting and travel, often in the company of husband
Glenn, daughter Sofia and Ginny the
wonder woof.
