Friday Poem

How peculiar are our criteria for marriage.

Untitled Poem

Have you ever walked into a train where elephants were singing
And found they didn’t seem to like the gifts that you were bringing?
Have you ever smelled a potent scent a little bit like flowers
Identifying which was always just beyond your powers?
Have you ever thought a bit of cream on toast might hit the spot
Then noticed that your icebox contents seemed a little hot?
Have you ever wondered if the porter was a foreign spy
Because you noticed how your camera looked just like his eye?
  Have you ever been to some old town
    Where everybody all around
  Had on their faces the same frown
    That Orville had when on the ground?

You have? O Joy! O rapture sweet!
Kind fate decreed that we should meet!
I never thought to see this day;
Now let us wed without delay!
