Friday Poem

Piracy is a social ill.

Untitled Poem

The pirates of the ancient seas
  Are colorful to think on
With ratty beards and wooden knees
They are an image fit to please
And both to loathe and wink on.

The pirates of the modern day
  Are truly less romantic
From kids who copy as they may
To half-broke thieves who rip for pay
  They act without an antic.

But pirates old and pirates new,
They both result in one thing:
The more they steal (and steal they do)
The more the things they steal are few
  As each less profit brings.

Honest work for honest pay
  And honest pay for workers;
No matter what the pirates say
Such honesty’s the only way
To not have lots of shirkers.
