Yes, that's a tandem bicycle.... and yes, that crazed look on their faces is real. These guys actually do Assault on Mt. Mitchell and Bridge to Bridge on that tandem. (Both of these are cycling events that involve a LOT of climbing)
Pictures from the ride
Ah, a beautiful rainy day....what better day to ride 82 miles? I'm in this picture even though you can't see who anyone is for all the rain gear (neon yellow raincoat, red/orange helmet). For all that rain gear not one of us managed to keep our clothes dry.
Day 1 - Sharon Bellucci (Team Crutchfield volunteer) hard at work preparing lunch for some hungry riders at the lunch rest stop. (Wet rider's perspective... blurry, but a very welcome sight)
Michele and Judy at the lunch stop. Yes, that's a shower cap. I wish I'd had the sense to bring one.
Day 1 - Team Crutchfield's Jason at the lunch tent.
Juan and Ed (in the back) at the lunch stop.
Tom and Wendy Hubbard of Team Inova at the finish of Day 1's ride.
Judy, J, and Juan at the finish at Longwood University. Taking a small break before heading out to make sure all team members make it to the finish safely.
Team Crutchfield's Tom Bellucci wearing the MS150 t-shirt that he designed for the MS150 tour (t-shirt color was not his doing) and Jason, both relaxing after several hours on the bike. How can you guys still be sitting???
Team Inova's Jane happy that Day 1 is over.
Tired rider's view of other people at the finish (dark and hazy). This is supposed to be a picture of Sharon and Tom Bellucci of Team Crutchfield.
Frank and Ed relaxing and waiting for dinner to start at the post-ride celebration.
Frank, Ed, Jane, and David (the head in the front)
Aaron and Frank...
Jason says: "Help my arms got stuck this way while riding no-handed for 3 miles!!!! Can you lift that beer for me?"
J, Sharon and Tom relaxing before dinner.
Juan and Judy posing for a picture with their newly acquired hydration aid devices given to them as a token of appreciation by Tom and Wendy Hubbard on behalf of Team Inova.
Day 2 - Yes, I actually made it to the finish. Juan took this picture of me crossing the finish line on Sunday.
