"Pacifists would do well to study the Siegfried and Maginot Line, remembering that these defenses were forced; that Troy fell; that the wall of Hadrian succumbed; that the Great Wall of China was futile. In war, the only sure defense is offense." - General George S. Patton

"We sleep safely in our beds because rough men stand ready to visit violence on those who would do us harm." George Orwell

Quick Intro: I'm currently a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Military with 22 years of service (18 of those on active duty).  I'm fortunate enough to have been given the opportunity by the Army to go to school full-time to obtain a PhD by the Summer of 2005.  I've been married for 21 great years and we are blessed to have a wonderful 16 year old daughter. My major research interests are centered upon Wireless Sensor Networks and Computer Security / Information Assurance.  We will be moving to the United States Military Academy at West Point this summer to teach in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

The focus of my research is in the Operation & Management of Wireless Sensor Networks.  This work is being done with the help of my advisor, Dr. Anita K. Jones.

Read or listen to Gordon Sinclair's "The Americans" - Written in 1973, but very timely even today.

To America's Soldiers - If you read any of these links, you must read this one.  Here is an excerpt:  "Those who have not suffered under the terror of oppression, those whose lives have been privileged and free, will never understand the sacrifices of those who died for liberty and freedom. It is easy to criticize our leaders from the safety, warmth and comfort of their homes and mansions. While they eat the bread of America, and benefit from the democracy and freedom of speech afforded us by this great nation, they show the ultimate disrespect toward our President and our troops."

Welcome to Anglo-Saxon reality

What role, if any, should Canada play in post-war Iraq?

The Joke is on the Pacifists

Fair-weather Friends "The Americans, who have borne the brunt of the fighting in this war -- as well as the brunt of world vitriol in the months leading up to it -- would be well within their rights to leave Old Europe and Canada twisting in the residue of their peacenik sophistry."

All of the clergy, academics and commentators who predicted America would lose the war of public opinion and that this "adventure" would produce "a thousand Bin Ladens" are also wrong. Why should it not produce a thousand, or millions, of Winston Churchills and people who want freedom from religious and political dictators?

  • French Perspective from 1986 and Libya: "Expressing the disappointment that millions of Americans feel toward now-President Chirac, I wondered if the French "would have allowed our planes to fly over a more precisely designated rout, leapfrogging such places as Ardennes, Suresnes, Rhone, the Lorraine Valley, St. James, St. Laurent and Espinal. All contain military cemeteries where American men lie face up, forever gazing into the skies of France. Surely these men would not object if they were to see once more the underbelly of an American bomber flying far from home to defend the values of the West.""
  • "This surely is the crucial point. Americans are not warlike people, but they will now go after rogue states and terrorists because, if they don’t, no one else will. All over the world, America takes on responsibilities because others shirk them."
