Image Synthesis : Final Rendering
Rendering Measured Anisotropic Materials
Michael Holroyd, Isabelle Stanton, Aprotim Sanyal
Using the data acquired in we generated microfacet distributions over the half-angle vector parameterization, shown below
Red Velvet, Purple Satin, Yellow Satin, Brushed Metal
Using this data we approximate the brdf as , which ignore the shadowing and masking terms usually associated with microfacet brdf models in favor of simplicity. As an example of what this allows, we rendered an image of circular brushed metal. This is one flat plane of homogenous material, but the tangent vectors have been proceeduarly generated.
The final rendering shows off the different materials, although the tangent vectors are all pointed in the same direction. Click for full-resolution image.
