Hi, I’m Noble Shore, and I am currently a grad student at the University of Virginia.  My research interests are in game theory, knowledge representation, and search techniques.  I am specifically trying to develop some new techniques for a bridge playing AI.  I work for Greg Humphreys in the Department of Computer Science.

In my past lives, I grew up in Montgomery County, MD.  I started playing ice hockey when I was 7 years old, and I played for Montgomery Hockey and Capital Boys Hockey for a number of years.  I also played for my high school, Magruder High School.  I went to Carnegie Mellon University for my undergrad and graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science with an additional major in Psychology.  I also played ice hockey for the Tartans, Carnegie Mellon’s team while I was there.  I graduated in May 2003, did some contracting work and ended up at UVA 8 months later.

I started playing bridge at about the same time I started at Carnegie Mellon in 1999.  I’m a Silver Life Master, ACBL certified teacher, and a member of USA-II Junior and the Junior Corps.  I’ve played professionally from time to time as well.  Here are my bridge-related pages.

When I’m not working, I enjoy playing bridge, usually either live in the Washington D.C. area or on OKBridge, swimming, aerobic weightlifting, and making sushi.  I also enjoy a number of other games, including Barbu, Texas Holdem, Mah Jhongg, Settlers of Catan, Rook, and 15-card No Peek.

Hopefully, as time passes I will have more to put on this page.  This is all for now.
