The sidebar consists of:
Modification of actions/sub-actions
The modification screen for an action/sub-action is the same as the detail screen except the fields can be modified. One may also attach files from the modification screen as well.
A user may get to the modification of an action item 3 different ways:
Deletion of actions/sub-actions
This option is only shown for a person with the default role of Administrator. After a user clicks to delete an action/sub-action, they must choose the one they want from a dropdown list. They are then taken to a screen very similar to a detail screen, asking them to confirm the deletion after viewing the full data on the chosen action/sub-action. After confirmation, the action/sub-action is deleted from the database.
Note: There is a history log kept of actions/sub-actions (status), and the deleting of an action should be done in rare instances.
Relating users and actions
One may also relate a user and an action/sub-action after the action/sub-action has been created. One will have an action enterer (person entering the data of the action into the computer upon action/sub-action creation), an originator (person from which action/sub-action originates), and an assignee. However, if one wants the action/sub-action to come up on a user's summary screen when logging in, that user can be "related" to the specified action.
Last, the users wanted to have multiple assignees. This is very similar to a "related" user. To make a user an assignee, a checkbox is checked when relating the user. Below is the part of the screen where a user relates a user to an action:
Relating action/sub-actions
Just as a user may be "related" to an action/sub-action, so can an action/sub-action be "related" to another action/sub-action. The selection of the actions is shown below:

With that being said, the following views are provided:
Summary
The summary view is the summary screen seen upon logging in to the MSTS system.
Print Summary
The print summary prints all the actions shown on the summary screen.

The suspense dates shows all the actions/sub-actions for a user sorted by the suspense (completion) date.
The brief on dates view shows all the actions/sub-actions for a user sorted by the brief on date.
The Action Item Source view shows all actions/sub-actions for a user sorted by the source of the action/sub-action.
History Log
The history log shows the current status as well as all the instances of where a given action/sub-action changed a status (open, closed, complete, or cancelled).
Expert Mode
Provided for those that know SQL. Queries and their results may be executed here.
Show All Actions, User Action Items (All, Open, Closed), Org Action Items (All, Open, Closed)
These give printable pop-up windows of the data. These are only accessible to a user with a default role of Administrator. For the user and organization views, the user/organization is chosen from a dropdown list.

These links are self-explanatory. These links are only seen by those with an Administrator default role.
