Research
My dissertation research area was object-oriented databases (parallel
object-oriented databases). Part of my research
involved substantial enhancements to U.Va.'s ADAMS OODBMS prototype,
including the creation of a parallel version of ADAMS.
ADAMS - the web as a testing/validation tool
The "Oracle of Bacon", an ADAMS application written by colleague Brett Tjaden,
currently handles 20,000 queries a day on an ADAMS database
containing over 250,000 objects. It was selected by Time magazine
as a top 10 web site for 1996. This provided the ADAMS internals
development team (shown above) with an abundant quantity of
performance and reliability information.
Note: As of some unspecified date in 1999 the Oracle no longer uses ADAMS...
