CS3102 Students,

CS3102 Theory Students,

Just a reminder that the regular Monday problem-solving sessions (over pizza! ) will begin this Monday (Jan 28) at 7:30pm through 9:30pm in 120 Olsson Hall (same room as where our class meets). We encourage everyone to attend these weekly sessions.

By now you should all be working on the first problem set, which is mostly review of sets and functions, as well as cardinalities and infinities (which we will also cover in class beginning this week).

Please also form study groups to brainstorm over these problems (and remember that all the exam questions will come from these problem sets!) Please refer to the useful summary of basic concepts, definitions, and notation.

If you have any questions, please see any of the three TA's according to their office hours schedule.

Also, please feel free to use the CS3102 "Reddit" bulletin board where you can discuss the class readings, find and connect with potential study session partners, etc.

For (lots of) extra credit, please read the Polya and Rucker books and Email me a short essay of what interesting and/or surprising things you have learned from each. I guarantee that reading these books will help you become a better problem solver.

And as always, please solve lots of problems, soon and often!

Thanks,

Gabe
