subject: double-extra credit opportunities - invited speakers colloquia
CS3102 (Theory) Students,

Please attend all of the upcoming colloquia this Spring for double extra credit each. We have an impressive roster of invited speakers and colloquia (this list is also linked from the Dept main page, and these talks are usually also announced by Email.)

Some of these speakers are also faculty candidates who are applying to join our Dept as professors (and their presentation is part of their interview process). For these faculty candidates, please also comment (in your usual Email EC submission paragraph) whether you think this candidate would be a good hire for our Dept and why (based on their talk, research, Q&A, etc.). Student feedback is an important component of hiring decisions. So please feel free to ask them lots of questions during/after their talks.

Also, by attending these talks, which are very interesting in their own right and are good for you to hear, you would also be helping the Dept by impressing the visitors that our Dept is very active, engaged, and has highly intelligent and motivated students! :) The next of these seminars is *today* (Fri Feb 7) at 3:30pm. As an added bonus, there is often a reception after these talks on the 4th floor of Rice (with cookies / fruits / refreshments served there).

See you all there!

Gabe
