Human mind has been pre-occupied with so many thoughts that the attention for some particular events or information may be missed out for such involvement. The events or information can be very crucial for the person, but because of being under various circumstances and stressful life style, these can go without any attention. This might result in several losses, such as, financial, personal, in case of career or simply hobbies.
People now-a-days manage most of their important works through different web services provided by the Internet. Appropriate and important events and news should be notified to them if they are busy elsewhere and their attention have been occupied by something else. Such notification can help them not to miss a deadline, inform them the information of their interests and overall make their life better and easier.
In this project, we design such a system which sends notification to the registered users of any information of their interests. The information can be an e-mail received from a special person, information published in a particular website, events in social and professional networks through Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn etc. The notification that is sent can be of various forms. It can be an e-mail, a message or phone call through wireless telephone service or a pop-up window in a personal computer etc.
In our system, the users are able to provide their preferences of information and events which they are interested in and to be notified. The interest notification can be of various categories. Such as, e-mail notification, notification from networking sites, notification from websites, such as, banking, news, blogs, related to hobbies, websites containing favorite songs, videos etc.
There are two scopes of our project. In the long-term scope, we envision of a system which is able to provide any kinds of information and event notification to the registered users as long as it satisfies the user's interest. We have to be careful enough not to send any unrelated information to the user. In the short-term scope, we are considering the e-mail notification system in which the users are able to get notification through our system when a new e-mail has arrived from a particular e-mail address. This e-mail address can be of that person’s supervisor, advisor, family member, manager at the bank etc. In this version, we plan to incorporate the support for a disabled person who is not able to read the e-mails sent to them. In such cases we will use the Text-to-Speech converter which can read out the e-mails sent to them. The notification that will be sent to the user will be in a form of pop-up window with set alarm, a message or call in the cell phone. If time allows and if you have the supported API, we plan to pull information from one of the networking web services, such as, Facebook or some other website.
