VigilNet:
An Integrated Sensor Network System
for Energy-Efficient Surveillance
Demonstration Scenario for VigilNet
Approximately 1000 motes placed relatively uniformly over 100x1000m grass and scrub brush area encompassing a dirt road. The network will be roughly divided into 10 sections with roughly 100 motes each. In each section, a relay is in charge of commanding sensor operation and retrieving information about environmental events.
In this demonstration scenario, there are two types of network sections.
The first type is called a tripwire section, in which sentry-based surveillance is provided. We expect 30 to 40% of the motes in these areas to be sentries and they will provide timely detection.
The second type of section is called a dormant section, in which no surveillance is provided. For the dormant sections, all nodes are in the dormant state, until there is a wake-up call from any tripwire section.
