| Course Overview | Cyber Physical Systems (CPSs) combine low-power radios with tiny, embedded processors in order to simultaneously cover wide geographic areas and provide high-resolution sensing/actuation. This technology will soon enable -- and in some cases has already begun to deliver -- a new generation of engineering systems and scientific breakthroughs. CPS technology has become more developed in the past few years, and real systems are currently being deployed in vineyards, homes, office buildings, city streets, factories, etc. In this course, we will discuss an array of timey and important topics in this area, focusing first on the basic framework for CPS and second on important areas of research. |

| Prerequisites |
This course is suitable for graduate students with little prior experience in the area. However, we will only briefly cover the basics of motes, sensors, nesC, and TinyOS, which must be learned from the online tutorials (www.tinyos.net). See CS451 for more rigorous coverage of these topics. |
