DASE-1 Standard

ATSC approved the ``DTV Application Software Environment Level 1 (DASE-1)'' standard [4], a similar standard to DVB MHP, in 2002. This standard specifies a DTV application environment that provides platform independence for all applications to run uniformly over all brands of DTV receivers (e.g., set-top boxes). DASE-1 has been implemented by several companies such as Aircode Inc. [21] and Bitstream Inc. [22] in their DTV products. Interestingly, most of these companies also support the DVB MHP at the same time [10].
