Standardization Efforts

The standardization efforts are critical for the deployment of the datacast service. Up to now, a variety of standards have been released, covering almost every aspect of datacast from data transmission on the DTV channel to application environment for processing these data. As a result of the division between the US and European standardization bodies, two competing standards may exist on a common aspect of datacast. In the following subsections, major standards on datacast from lower to higher protocol layers are introduced in sequence.
