ATVEF Enhanced Content Specification

The Advanced Television Enhancement Forum (ATVEF) [5] is a cross-industry alliance of companies representing the broadcasters, consumer electronics, PC industries, etc. The ATVEF Enhanced Content Specification [6] mainly defines an HTML-based content format for datacast in the application level. Using available standards whenever possible to minimize the creation of new standards, the ATVEF specification fully references existing specifications such as HTML and Document Object Model (DOM) [45] as the basis of its content specification. The ATVEF specification broadly supports the transmission of content over both analog and digital video systems using terrestrial, cable, satellite, or Internet networks. It can use any standard of ATSC, DVB, etc. as the underlying transport protocols.
